Vantage Point history
There has been business activity at the Mitcheldean site since 1868 when it was established as a brewery. In the 1940's the site was owned by British Acoustic Films who manufactured photographic equipment.
In 1948 the business was acquired by the Rank organisation and by 1950 it was the largest producer of 8mm and 16mm home cine equipment in the UK.
An agreement was signed between the Rank organisation and Haloid Xerox in 1954 and Rank Xerox came into being. 1958 saw the launch of the first Rank Xerox copier which was designed and produced by Rank Precision Industries at Mitcheldean. Rank Xerox purchased the site outright in 1965. The copier business grew rapidly and in its peak the site employed approximately 5,000 people!
During 2001, Xerox decided to sell the Mitcheldean site as part of its global restructuring plan and BMJ International entered into negotiations to purchase the facility. On the 1st May 2002, BMJ International took ownership of what is now known as Vantage Point Business Village.
